Balsam firs have several desirable properties. They have a dark-green appearance, long-lasting needles, and attractive form. Balsam Firs are also the most fragrant.
Over the years REAL Christmas trees have done nothing but improve. Put simply, their softer, more fragrant, and they last longer. While REAL Christmas trees keep getting better, FAKE Christmas tree sales continue to grow. Approximately ten million FAKE Christmas trees were sold worldwide in 2003.
There are a few things that are often overlooked when people decide to buy a FAKE Christmas tree.
The first is OUR economy. Approximately 85% of FAKE Christmas trees in the United States are imported from China. Approximately 25-30 million REAL Christmas trees are sold each year in the United States. Almost all of these come from Christmas tree farms. These are Christmas tree farms that provide jobs in their area.
The second important thing to consider is our environment. While their growing REAL Christmas trees support life by absorbing carbon dioxide and other gases and emitting fresh oxygen. In fact, one acre of land produces the daily oxygen for eighteen people.
The third important thing to consider is safety. Most FAKE Christmas trees are made of metals and plastics. The plastic material can be a potential source of hazardous lead. In fact the potential for lead poisoning is great enough that FAKE Christmas trees made in China are required by law in some states to have a warning label.
